The Active Investor Plus (AIP) visa is New Zealand's investor immigration pathway, replacing the previous Investor 1 and Investor 2 categories in 2022. It requires significant investment in New Zealand over a minimum 4-year period.
Growth Category ($5M): - Minimum $5 million in acceptable investments - Focus on "growth investments" creating jobs and economic benefit - Venture capital, private equity, growth companies qualify - Most bonds, property, and bank deposits don't qualify
Balanced Category ($10M): - Minimum $10 million total investment - $5 million in listed equities or bonds allowed - $5 million in growth investments required - More flexibility in investment mix
